About Me
ERC Research Group Leader · German Institute of Human Nutrition
I am a cognitive neuroscientist studying how signals from the gut influence brain and mind. My research focuses on how the movements and secretions of the gut shape our brain activity, thoughts, and feelings. To tackle these questions, I use tools such as functional magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalography, electrogastrography, pharmacological interventions, and recordings of physiological signals. I currently lead an ERC-funded research group on gut-brain interactions at the German Institute of Human Nutrition in Potsdam.
Background
I completed a bachelor in clinical psychology at Universidad de la República, Uruguay. I then moved to Paris, France to do a master in Cognitive Science, which I followed by a PhD in Neuroscience in the Subjectivity, Brain & Viscera lab of Prof. Catherine Tallon-Baudry, located at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris.
